Bedworthpark becomes safer
"We would like to get help from the municipality or any sponsorship to assist us with equipment."
VEREENIGING.- The community of Bedworthpark feels a bit safer after the Bedworthpark Crime Prevention Organisation was started recently.
Under the leadership of Sibusiso Mvundlela, also known as Mokone, the organisation patrols in Bedworth Park to protect the residents because of the high crime rate.

“I took the decision to open this organisation to ensure the safety of the residents. At night, there are gangsters who come to the area to terrorise community members and students, workers. There are also incidents of home break-ins, stealing of car wheels, cell phones, and laptops,” said Mvundlela.

He added that they have asked the municipality to assist in closing two open spaces so that they can stop criminals from entering and leaving Bedworth Park as they wish.
“We are also requesting that they fix the street lights to improve visibility at night.”

“On that day, while I was going to work in the morning with my colleague, some robbers tried to rob us, but we managed to escape. We then engaged with the community, police and had a meeting with them, and they were in support of the initiative. So, we would like to get help from the municipality or any sponsorship to assist us with equipment. This support would also help create job opportunities for others, Mvundlela ended.
