Youth receive certificates following skills development

During a ceremony carried out by MLM in conjunction with various stakeholders, participants were awarded certificates for participating in the initiative launched earlier this year to empower local youth with technical and entrepreneurial skills.

MIDVAAL – Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor Peter Teixeira congratulated 62 young people who completed the Cellphone Repair, Fourth Industrial Revolution skills and ICT-related programmes.

During a ceremony carried out by MLM in conjunction with various stakeholders, participants were awarded certificates for participating in the initiative launched earlier this year to empower local youth with technical and entrepreneurial skills.

MLM states that the programme results from extensive engagement with stakeholders and forms part of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, which emanates from the Buang Batjha and Youth Summit Programme.

“Stakeholders were encouraged to prioritise Midvaal youth and residents for training and development opportunities. Participants received training in Cell Phone Repairs, Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Skills, End-User Computing, and Generic Management Learnership.”

The programme was delivered in partnership with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, NEMISA, VUT, and HCLS.

Teixeira said, “This occasion marks the culmination of hard work by the 62 young people who will receive their certificates today. We celebrate the unwavering commitment of our young people who embraced the opportunities before them.

“Despite the challenges they face, they dedicated themselves to completing this programme, equipping themselves with invaluable skills that will empower their future. What these young people have achieved will not only benefit them and their families but will also make a meaningful contribution to our communities.”

MLM says it will continue to work to create opportunities for all and bring opportunities directly to Midvaal youth.
