Pirates’ star Foundation and Far Post Media host coaches’ workshop in Vaal
This will benefit our coaches because these are the people who are instrumental in the development of our football in the country.
SHARPEVILLE.- Relebohile Mofokeng Sports Foundation, in conjunction with Far Post Media and Lucky Star Pilchards, will host coaching clinics and workshops for Vaal development coaches.
This initiative will take place in Sharpeville, which happens to be Mofokeng’s hometown, tomorrow, Saturday.
This workshop is expected to be attended by 50 local coaches from the Emfuleni Local Football Association and the Orange Farm Local Football Association. However, the programme will kick off today with a school visit, legends talking to learners about gender-based violence and drugs, among other things.
This initiative aims to empower local coaches, especially development coaches from the poorest of the poor within the community. This is the first event of its kind to be hosted by this Orlando Pirates young star since he turned professional.
Mofokeng started his amateur football in the dusty Sharpeville soccer ground playing for Celeb Youth Academy.
This initiative is him ploughing back into his community that witnessed his talent before he rose to stardom. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, ELFA Head of Technical Paul Motsepe said he was approached by Mofokeng’s associate to organise 50 local coaches to attend this workshop.
He told Sedibeng Ster Sport he is excited to be part of this initiative aiming to empower local coaches.
“As the Emfuleni Local Football Association, we are honoured to be part of this initiative, and we are looking forward to making this event a great success. We want to thank Mofokeng and Far Post Media for this event. This will benefit our coaches because these are the people who are instrumental in the development of our football in the country,” said Motsepe.
