SHARPEVILLE.- It was a trip down memory lane when former soccer greats reunited at the coaching workshop and soccer clinics in Sharpeville on June 14.
This initiative was organised by FAR Post Media and Lucky Star Pilchards to empower 50 grassroots coaches.

Former Moroka Swallows midfielder Josias ‘Bingo’ Nnete and former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana defender Edward Motale played together at Swallows, formerly Moroka Swallows, when the club was still playing in top-flight football. Nnete, who started his football career playing for one of the now-defunct Rainbow Juventus FC from Zone 7, was part of the former soccer greats who attended the coaching workshop held at Tsoaranag Primary School in Sharpeville.
Nnete is still active in football, playing for the keep-fit League, known as the Masters’ Soccer League.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the two said it was a great feeling to be part of this coaching programme, especially sharing their experience with the youngsters.

Some of the former soccer players who attended this coaching programme include former Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos hard man Mokete Tsotetsi. Motale said he was happy to see former professional players involved in the development of football.
“I’m happy to see former professional players like Bingo still very much involved in the development of football. I wish other former players could learn from people like Bingo and Tsotetsi to share their experience with these young players,” said Motale.
