‘Imbizo ya Madoda’ gives men a chance to express themselves

Men were also encouraged to visit local clinics to test for prostate cancer.

SHARPEVILLE. – The Sharpeville police together with different stakeholders held ‘Imbizo ya Madoda’ (a meeting for men) in Tshepiso Phase 4, Sharpeville recently.

The meeting was held under the theme: #RestoringDignityOfAmadoda

The stakeholders included:

  • Sharpeville Saps
  • Department of Health
  • Community Safety
  • Spiritual Crime Prevention
  • Bambanani
  • Abahambe
  • MASP
  • CPF executive
  • GTW

“The purpose of the campaign was for men to engage with each other to share ideas and issues of gender violence. It was said by one of the speakers that gender-based violence does not choose whether you are male or female,” said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango.

During the meeting men were also encouraged to visit local clinics to test for prostate cancer. Domestic violence, sexual health, Gender based violence, Alcohol Abuse, and mental health were amongst the topics that were discussed.
