Sedibeng’s own make waves in SA’s radio landscape

The hosts are both informed and entertaining, funny and highly skilled with years of experience on air.

SEDIBENG.- Thetha FM’s Mid-Morning Avenue Show, which is hosted by the vibrant pair of Mimizana Malindi and Nomsa Ninkies, known as ‘Basadi ba Sthepu’, won an award over the weekend under the category: The best Midmorning Show.

This was at the inaugural Community Radio Awards that were held in Johannesburg last Friday.

The show’s task is simple: to give the listener something fresh but also not shy away from their roots, which are:

  •  SA’s rich culture and
    language
  • Information
  • Diverse indulgence in
    music

The inaugural Community Radio Awards celebrated the vibrant talent and dedication of South Africa’s community radio sector, with over 72 stations participating in the sold-out event. Held in high spirits, the awards night saw nominees and winners travel from across the country, including the Western Cape, KZN, and Northern Cape, to witness this historic moment.

The Mid-Morning Avenue Show gives a daily dose of the latest trends in fashion, hair, skin, and breaking news.

“We cover health issues, legal matters, social issues, and family matters with our experts to build solid relations weekly. We cater for the modern working class, the elite, and ordinary people within our reach. It is a breath of fresh air to know that even during tea breaks, a teacher, an attorney, a doctor, a shebeen owner, a student taking a gap year, a gogo and mkhulu including our street vendors, salon owners and business people tune in religiously on a daily basis,” said Ninkies and Malindi, the hosts, who are both informed and entertaining, funny and highly skilled with years of experience on air.

Basadi Ba Sethepu, deliver the show in languages the listener understands: SeSotho, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, English, and Afrikaans.

This alone sets them apart, thus ensuring no one is left behind.
