Engagement held to uplift youth
Police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zanini said the goal of the meeting was to highlight the importance of youth initiatives as they play a major role in getting young people away from negative things.
In a spirit of togetherness and unity in improving the lives of young people in the Meyerton policing precinct, various stakeholders held a meeting to plan upcoming events and programmes that will be pivotal in reaching this objective. Police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zanini said the goal of the meeting was to highlight the importance of youth initiatives as they play a major role in getting young people away from negative things.
Stakeholders at the meeting include the Midvaal Traffic Department, Deaf SA, FCS, Department of Social Development in Vereeniging, Sedibeng Disaster, Department of Community Safety, Agape, Meyerton Crime Prevention Youth Desk, Siyabangena, and Angel of Mercy NPO.
“The Angel of Mercy NPO will be hosting a substance abuse awareness, and Deaf SA will be having a Silence Walk in the form of a march. The objective of the march is to encourage respect and love for the deaf community in communities. The meeting was held to allow stakeholders to plan around these important events.”
Meyerton SAPS station commander Colonel Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale welcomed the partnership, stating that together, more can be achieved. Senzangakhona said it is everyone’s responsibility to work towards bettering the Meyerton community.
