Midvaal MADMAC returns with R100k in prizes!

Runners, start your engines: R100k prizes, a real cannon blast, and medals await at Midvaal MADMAC!

The Meyerton Athletics Club will host the third annual Midvaal MADMAC road race on October 5, with distances ranging from a full 42 km marathon to shorter 22 km, 10 km and 5 km options.

The marathon is a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier, and organisers have confirmed that a total of R100 000 in prize money will be up for grabs.

The event has grown into a highlight on the local running calendar, with support from the Midvaal Local Municipality.

Even the fire brigade is expected to add to the festive atmosphere by manning a water point.

Runners can also look forward to live entertainment, lucky draw prizes from sponsors including Voltex, Lynca and Crazy Store, and Strava segment prizes across all distances.

Like previous years, the race will start in a dramatic fashion with the firing of a real cannon (loaded with a blank).

All finishers will receive medals, while the first 1 000 entrants will each collect a goodie bag filled with products from sponsors such as Crazy Store, Voltex, Switch, Mogu Drinks and 32GI.

Last year’s race drew high profile participants including South African Olympian Cian Oldknow and running blogger Stuart Mann, both of whom spoke highly of the event.

Entries for the 42 km marathon in particular are selling quickly, with organisers reporting that 75% of spots had already been filled.

Runners are encouraged to enter early via racepass.com.
