The mayor applauded the Parks and Cemeteries Department management for a job well done in acquiring the necessary tools and further encouraged them to take care of the equipment.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Together with Members of the Mayoral Committee, acting municipal manager, Mothiba Mogofe, and members of EXCO, the Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) mayor, Sipho Radebe, oversaw a handover ceremony of maintenance tools for the Parks and Cemeteries Department.

The equipment is worth R1.4m.

Radebe officially handed over six tractor-mounted heavy-duty grass slashers, four ride-on zero turn mowers, 12 blowers, 12 chain saws, 12 pole pruners, 30 brush cutters, and safety kits.

The mayor applauded the Parks and Cemeteries Department management for a job well done in acquiring the necessary tools and further encouraged them to take care of the equipment.

“Ever since I became mayor here in Emfuleni, we have bought and handed over a lot of equipment aimed at improving services; however, employees always point out the lack of tools of trade for service delivery challenges the municipality is experiencing,” the mayor said.

“With these new tools, we must inspire confidence in the public by providing consistent quality services to the communities, while we also look after the equipment we purchase. Now is the time to work even harder to win back the trust and support of the people of Emfuleni,” Radebe added.

The handover concluded with an on-site machinery demonstration by Parks and Cemeteries staff, to show how the equipment functions in practical, real-world settings.
