Future Sporting Club unearths talent in Tshepong

Like many community clubs, one of their biggest challenges is a lack of sponsorship.

SEBOKENG.- Future Champs Sporting Club is one initiative focused on developing young talent in Tshepong, Ironside.

Established in 2014, the club offers training in two sporting codes: athletics and boxing.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Coach Jafta Franks said the club was founded to discover and nurture local talent. He emphasised that, like many community clubs, one of their biggest challenges is a lack of sponsorship, pointing out that grassroots clubs like Future Champs are where many top athletes begin their journeys.

Recently, the club’s young athletes had the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Vaal River City Marathon held at Isak Steyl Stadium.
This event is one of the biggest to take place in Sedibeng, with familiar faces and runners gathered at the venue every year to compete. Future Champs competed in the 5km races in both boys’ and girls’ categories, a proud moment for the club and the community.

“We are a young, ambitious development club with a dream to become a household name in South African sports. We are dedicated to training and preparing children for the future, both in boxing and athletics. I do not doubt that many of them are going to succeed because they are eager to learn.”

Franks made a heartfelt appeal to the community: “We urgently need training equipment for both boxing and athletics. I call on local businesses and companies to support our mission by donating equipment. With the right resources, we can take these youngsters to the next level.”
