VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sharpeville SAPS Constable Malehlohonolo Motsamai (39) scooped The Guardian Award for her remarkable and outstanding work in the community. This was during the 10^th Gauteng Legislature VITA Basadi Awards held last month.

The awards, part of Women’s Month celebrations, honour women and volunteers for their dedicated service. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Motsamai said this means a lot to her.

“Look, being a police officer, a mother, and a student is not easy, but I feel proud because each role shapes who I am. My work gives me discipline, motherhood gives me strength, and studying pushes me to grow.”

Motsamai said, regardless of her busy work schedule, she manages by setting priorities and taking things step by step.

“The biggest challenge is when my responsibilities clash, like coming home tired from work, but still needing to study.” She added that her biggest motivation is her children, as she wants to give them a better future and prove that anything is possible.

“I am also inspired to improve myself so I can serve my community (Sharpeville) better. I am grateful for my family’s support and for reminding me that I don’t have to do everything alone,” said Motsamai.

Motsamai is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Law, which she says has boosted her confidence and deepened her understanding of cases while opening doors for further growth.

In conclusion, her advice to other mothers and women in law enforcement who want to study is to never give up. She added, “Let’s continue to leave a footprint for future generations to come.”
