VANDERBIJLPARK.- The 2025 Vaal River Schools Soccer League winners were crowned at the NWU Vaal soccer fields over the weekend.
The league started at the end of June and concluded on September 27.
Vaal Riverside High dominated this league in both U15 and U17.

The school crowned the champions in both categories, with HTS Sasolburg crowned the undisputed champion in the U19 category. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tyrone Koller, the man behind this initiative, said the standard of football was high, considering the fact that schools don’t usually get the recognition. Koller said this year’s league was a great success thanks to NWU Vaal, which was the main partner/sponsor.

The finals were held at the NWU Vaal, with parents coming in numbers to support their children on the day.
The day’s programme started with the semi-finals and was followed by the finals. Koller said it was a well-structured league, with a few surprises.
“What a season! I want to thank NWU Vaal as well as the schools for presenting such high standards. The Vaal High U15 reached their first semi-final of the league with a solid performance. The school’s football run by the freestyle guru Fana from FFS led the way with strong performances against Vaal High. There were so many positive developments and surprises this year, with some schools surprising us with outstanding performances.”

“I’m looking forward to the next year, and all applications must start in January 2026 for the new season. We want to thank our partners NWU Vaal for their support and for making this league such a great success,” said Koller.
