Mokhachane honoured for outstanding service
Mokhachane emphasised the importance of being a positive role model, highlighting mentorship as a powerful tool for uplifting other women.
DE DEUR – Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, stationed at Sebokeng SAPS, was among the dedicated men and women in blue honoured for their exceptional service at the recent SAPS Excellence Awards held at Balmoral Gardens in De Deur.
Mokhachane was left in disbelief when she was announced as the first runner-up in the Woman of the Year category, a recognition of her unwavering commitment to serving and protecting her community with diligence and integrity.
Speaking to Ster North, Mokhachane expressed her gratitude for the honour, saying it has motivated her to continue striving for excellence.
“I have always been passionate about law enforcement and making a positive change in my community. I love giving back, and this has resulted in me often using my own resources to support charitable work. I always go the extra mile to help people. This has been a very fulfilling path.”
This was Mokhachane’s first time entering the awards. She states that the fact that she was among those chosen shows that she is on the right track. She emphasised the importance of being a positive role model, highlighting mentorship as a powerful tool for uplifting other women.
“I’ve mentored other police officers. It’s important to share knowledge with those walking the same path. This recognition marks a defining moment in my career.”
Mokhachane also believes strongly in the power and potential of women. “As a woman, you can be anything you aspire to be, an engineer, a doctor, whatever your mind believes. You just have to work hard and stay committed.”
Mokhachane shared that she can balance compassion and authority in her role, despite the challenges that come with policing.
“Even when situations are tough, I remember my duty to serve the community.”
Through ongoing engagement and building trust, Mokhachane has developed strong relationships with community members, a factor she believes has contributed to her popularity and effectiveness.
She extended heartfelt thanks to the SAPS, the community, and her loved ones for being a strong support system to her.
