VANDERBIJLPARK.- Orlando Pirates maintained their impressive lead at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) with a solid 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday.
Pirates made their intention clear, taking the game to the home team in the opening minutes, dominating possession and creating better chances than their host, forcing Sekhukhune onto the back foot.

Familiar with the venue since having played their home fixtures there last season, Pirates looked composed throughout and dictated the tempo of the match. This game will go down as one of the best games this season so far, as the Mighty Buccaneers showed they are genuine title contenders this season.

After a disappointing finish last year, the rivals Kaizer Chiefs claimed the title as DDC champions.
Currently, Pirates top the standings with 13 points from five matches. Richards Bay is second with 12 points, followed by AmaZulu, also on 12 points. Kaizer Chiefs moved up one spot after a 1-1 draw with Siwelele. Mamelodi Sundowns remains in fourth position despite a 2-1 victory against Chippa United. While it’s still early in the season, Pirates’ current form suggests they are serious title challengers. There will be no DDC action in the Vaal this weekend as Sekhukhune United play away.
