SEBOKENG.- Sedibeng Netball Federation hosted a fundraising tournament at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Zone 14 on Saturday.
This tournament was held to raise funds for both Sedibeng Netball Senior and U21 teams that will represent Sedibeng at the prestigious Spar National Netball Championships.

This annual championship is scheduled to take place at Hoerskool E.J Jansen in Ekurhuleni from November 30 to December 6. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Mpho Makgatha who is the Sedibeng Team Manager and also Sedibeng Netball Secretary.
Makgatha told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the fundraising was a huge success thanks to the enthusiastic participation of various netball teams and supporters. It was a great vibe with Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre buzzing with excitement. In fact, it was a busy weekend of sports at the venue with Heist of Combo Diski Challenge also taking place there. Makgatha said it was day filled with unity, fun and a shared passion for the sport with the players showcasing the strength and spirit of the Sedibeng netball community.

To make it interesting, it was netball teams from white communities and township. It was rainbow colours all over the netball courts.
She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that before the teams’ head to Ekurhuleni, both teams will participate in the Inter-District Tournament on November 8 which forms part of the preparation for the national championships.

Makgatha said the fundraising effort continue and the community is encouraged to stay engaged and show support by contributing toward the teams.

“Special appreciation goes to Monique Meyer who is the Head Coach of the Senior Team, and Mojalefa Radebe who is in charge of the U21 Team, for their dedication and leadership in preparing the squad for this upcoming championships.Not forgetting the profound support by the newly elected Sedibeng Netball Executive Committee,” she said.
