SEDIBENG – High discipline and good morals are the order of the day for Sergeant Mokete Ralesai (49), who was given recognition at the 2025 Sedibeng District SAPS Excellence Awards as Man of the Year.

The awards recognise and reward employees for their distinguished performance and reinforce a culture of excellence within the SAPS. The awards aim to motivate employees, enhance service delivery, and improve the overall image and reputation of SAPS by highlighting their commitment to community safety.

Since joining the force in 2009, Ralesai has embodied high standards. He believes that integrity is the foundation of true justice. For Ralesai, being awarded is symbolic of the diligent work he puts in to ensure that justice is served for his community. Although he highlights that being in the SAPS does not come without challenges, he believes that applying Batho Pele Principles can get one ahead in life.

“I have always been passionate about law enforcement. I knew that I would become a police officer from a very young age.”

This is not the first time Ralesai has been recognised; in 2017, he was honoured as the best crime prevention officer of the year. Ralesai says he is extremely grateful for the support and resources he received, as this enables him to effectively deliver his duties.

“What I enjoy more is the collaboration of the community with the SAPS. It is really encouraging to see communities actively fight crime in their areas together with the police.”

Ralesai strongly believes that humility, respect, and empathy can get one very far in life. He has thanked everyone who played a role in his achievement, saying that it will push him to work harder.

Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho has applauded all the achievers, thanking them for their outstanding dedication and exceptional service to members of the community.
