Young girls encouraged to reach for their dreams

SEBOKENG – Bonolo Moloi (14) from Vereeniging is keen to uplift young girls by equipping them with the confidence they need to pursue their dreams.

The Riverside High School pupil currently in Grade 9 recently held an event dubbed ‘A Girls Child’ at Maranatha Church in Zone 11, with the objective of instilling a spirit of self-empowerment, self-love and trust in God in young girls aged 10-18.

The event was attended by scores of young people, keen to be motivated by someone relatable. The session boasted an array of speakers, young and old, ready to share words of wisdom with young people. Speaking to Ster North, Moloi states that she loves ploughing back into her community.

“My biggest objective is to help the community as well as to empower young people. When you trust in yourself, you can achieve anything you want. The most important thing that I want young girls to know is that Education is a very important foundation as it creates different opportunities and also opens up doors.”

Through her foundation called Bonolo’s Foundation, the teen ploughs back into her community by running different charity drives.

“I was not aware that the world is in so much need. I believe that if we all come together to change the situation of people that surround us, we will be able to do a lot.

“When we help each other, we get to things from a different perspective.”

The aspiring optometrist says the event was a resounding success, stating that the message shared on the day was well received by the audience.

“There was a lot of positive energy in the venue, a spirit of unity reigned on the day.”

Moloi says she is prayerful that her next event will be even bigger and better. She thanked her parents and all the stakeholders for making the event possible.
