New ELM and Rand Water structure almost ready to launch
All systems go for Emfuleni–Rand Water partnership aimed at fixing Vaal’s water woes.
It’s all systems go for the launch of a brand-new combined water and sanitation organisation for Emfuleni and Rand Water.
The new organisation – comprises both former Metsi-a Lekoa employees of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Rand Water nominees.
The launch is expected on November 14 with a completely new name and brand, according to informed sources.
This is part of ELM Municipal Manager April Ntuli’s strategic pivoting process on bulk utilities such as electricity and water, whereby the municipality has made strategic management partners of bulk service providers such as Rand Water and Eskom, and shares revenue with them.
The new water and sanitation structure is expected to close major gaps in infrastructure, revenue, and water loss, and comes after years of ongoing water and environmental sewage pollution in the Vaal, which even major Government interventions such as deploying the Army, failed to stem.
