SEDIBENG.- The newly promoted Young Pirates FC will play their next two crucial ABC Motsepe League matches away from home.

Pirates FC will be away to play against Mabopane FC on Wednesday (today).

The game kicks off at 15:00. Their next crucial game is against Jomo Cosmos at Cosmos grounds on Saturday.

Vaal is well represented in the league, with Young Pirates FC doing exceptionally well since being promoted to the South African Football Association (SAFA) second division league.  They have made their presence felt in this league, competing against the best in Gauteng. The latter is among the teams at the top of the log standing.

All eyes will be on their game against Cosmos on Saturday.

However, it has to be noted that they come up against a stubborn opponent in Cosmos. To date, Cosmos has been relegated from top-flight football after dominating South African football for many years, producing top players. Former Bafana Bafana Captain and Boipatong-born defender Aaron ‘Mbazo’ Mokoena is one of the players unearthed by Jomo Sono, who is well known for bringing unknown talent to South African football.

Augustine ‘Mthakathi’ Makalakalane from Sharpeville is one of the players who played for Cosmos and even furthered his football career abroad. The club has a history of recruiting talented players from Vaal.

Back to Pirates FC, the latter signed exciting talent to strengthen their squad to challenge for the league title.

Despite being the first season in the ABC Motsepe League, Pirates FC looks like it will also be challenging for the league’s title at the end of the season.
