Evaton hosts empowering women in film dialogue

EVATON.- The Boss Lady Foundation, in partnership with the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC), supported by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Arts and Culture Unit, proudly presents the Her Lens, Her Voice Women in Film Dialogue and Screening.
The event is scheduled for November 15 at Motswako Arts Centre.
This initiative aims to empower, inspire, and connect young women filmmakers and creatives with established industry leaders who have paved the way in film, television, and digital media.

The programme will feature film screenings, performances, and a powerful panel discussion on “Women in Film Challenges and Opportunities.”
Confirmed guest speakers include:
- Refilwe Matenche – Filmmaker, Accountant, and Digital Media Commentator. As founder of Basadi Initiative, she uses storytelling and social media platforms to champion women’s empowerment and visibility in creative spaces.
- Tina Mnumzana – Veteran actress, mentor, and behind-the-scenes practitioner celebrated for her decades of contribution to South African film and television.
- Lebo Monakedi – Founder of Letlotlo Productions and former Multichoice executive with expertise in broadcasting and content licensing. She will share insights on how filmmakers can prepare their work for acquisition by major platforms such as Showmax and Mzansi Magic.
- Olebogeng Phetoe – Founder of Boss Lady Foundation, who will unpack the foundation’s vision of creating a platform that celebrates women in leadership across industries, starting with the creative sector.

The event will also feature poetry, live music performances, and a mentorship and networking session to help bridge the gap between emerging and established women in film.
ELM, through its Arts and Culture Unit, is collaborating with the project to identify local experts to participate, assist with community outreach, and help promote the event across the region.
