SEDIBENG.- A young talent from the Vaal  is making waves on the SuperSport MVP Talent Search.

Relebogile Mabawa, is a 25-year-old rising sports broadcaster.

Currently the Sports Producer and Anchor on YFM’s weekday breakfast show, The Way Up (5-9am), Mabawa’s story is deeply rooted in the Vaal and is one that will resonate with your audience.

Born in Sharpeville and raised between Polokong and Zone 12 in Sebokeng, his love for sport started like many young boys—watching the greats compete on TV and playing football casually with friends. The 2010 FIFA World Cup ignited an even deeper passion for sport, later expanding to cricket during his high school years.

When he realised in his mid-teens that he might not pursue a professional sports career, Mabawa found a new path: analysing the game. He became fascinated with sports media, drawn to how anchors, analysts, and commentators bring stories to life.

He began studying their techniques, shaping his ambition to one day become a broadcaster himself.

That dream is now becoming a reality through the SuperSport MVP Talent Search, where Mabawa has been showcasing his natural talent, sharp sports insight, and on-screen presence.

His experience on the show has been life-changing.

Pausing his daily life to pursue this dream has reminded him of three powerful lessons:

1. Believe in yourself—even if it feels delusional.
   Sometimes you must put yourself in unimaginable situations and back your abilities wholeheartedly.
2. Embrace criticism as a tool for growth.
   The judges’ feedback has taught him resilience and the importance of using critique constructively.
