SEDIBENG.- A vehicle check point led to the arrest of a 41-year-old male for possession of illicit cigarettes on Saturday in Vijoensdrift, between Vereeniging and Sasolburg.

It is said that at about 08:30, Fezile Dabi District highway patrol and Viljoensdrift SAPS members conducted a vehicle check point on the R82 where a panel van was stopped and searched, and a total of 4342 cartons of various illicit cigarettes valued at R218 000 were discovered and seized.

The suspect will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of illicit cigarettes.
