VANDERBIJLPARK.- Jomo Cosmos stunned the University of Johannesburg (UJ) when they beat them 2-0 in the ABC Motsepe League match.
This must-win encounter for Ezenkosi took place at their home ground, Isak Steyl Stadium, on Tuesday afternoon.
This was a must-win for Cosmos to move away from relegation after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to log leaders Free Agents FC on Saturday.

Ezenkosi came into this encounter against UJ FC second from the bottom of the log standings. They desperately needed these maximum points to better their position on the log. There was much relief and celebration from the Cosmos bench when the referee blew the final whistle. This showed how much they needed this win, especially after the weekend defeat.
The game went to an interval with the scoreboard reading 0-0. The game started to come alive in the second half, as Cosmos looked dangerous every time they went forward. The visitors found the back of the net but were disallowed with the assistant referee on the far side judging it offside, much to the disappointment of the UJ bench who were up on their feet celebrating.

This moment scared Cosmos as they started to regroup and take the game to their opponents. Their forwards worked their socks off fighting, chasing, and competing for each and every ball. Cosmos created fair enough scoring opportunities compared to their opponents.

But having said that, UJ also made some good goal attempts thanks to brilliant saves from Cosmos’ goalkeeper, who stood between Ezenkosi’s win and defeat.
He produced a Man of the Match performance for his team.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the game, Jomo Son said they were unfortunate to lose against Free Agents FC over the weekend. He said his team was more disciplined today, even though he feels they could have won the game with three goals.
