Manhunt launched following two murders in Meyerton

The police in Meyerton are probing the murders of two men killed in the area over the weekend.

MEYERTON – The police are on a manhunt for five suspects following the gruesome murder of a 49-year-old man in Kookfontein. The incident happened on February 20.

Police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini reports that a female complainant summoned police to the residence after the incident.

“On arrival, the complainant told police that the deceased went to the outside toilet and forgot to close the door when he came back into the house. Five suspects followed the deceased into the house and demanded money. The deceased gave the suspects R3 000. “

Zazini states that the five suspects subsequently struck the deceased on the face with a hammer and fled the scene.

“The man succumbed to his injuries, and his body was taken to Sebokeng Mortuary.”

Zazini confirms that a case of murder and robbery has been opened for investigation.

In another incident, police were called to a murder scene in Sicelo following the fatal stabbing of a man (37) on February 21.

“On arrival at the scene, police found the lifeless body of a man lying on the street. His body was later taken to Sebokeng Mortuary.”

Zazini confirms that suspects are unknown at this point, adding that a murder case docket is open for investigation.
