Police need help to identify deceased man
The station commander, Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, pleads with the community to assist in this matter.
The Vereeniging police are urging the public to help identify an unknown deceased African male at the Sebokeng Government Mortuary.
The body of the deceased was discovered on an unlit road between Old Johannesburg Road and Vereeniging Road, next to Springcol, on January 27, 2024.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that a culpable homicide investigation was launched following the incident, but to date, no one has come forward to claim the body.
Maxambela states that the deceased is registered at the mortuary under DR148/2024.
“Fingerprints of the deceased were taken; however, they do not appear on the South African Police Service or Department of Home Affairs databases. This has made identification difficult.”
Authorities now believe that the deceased may be a foreign national.
Anyone with information about the deceased can contact Detective Sergeant Kruger on 066 294 6681 or send an email to KrugerH1@saps.gov.za.
