EVATON.-  Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot in Palm Springs recently.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 15:00, where they discovered the victim lying face down.

Paramedics declared him dead

The man had suffered five gunshot wounds in total, three to his back and two to his hands. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene. According to an eyewitness, the deceased was coming from church when he was confronted by two unknown men.

One of the suspects took out a firearm and fired several times.

Nothing was stolen

The victim collapsed immediately, and the two suspects fled the scene on foot. Police confirmed that nothing was stolen from the victim, leaving the motive for the attack a mystery.

Evaton Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, confirmed the incident.

“The motive is unknown at present, and anyone who might know the whereabouts of the suspects or any information, is urged to call Evaton police on 08600 10111.”
