Sedibeng TVET College hosts Business Breakfast

The Sedibeng College networking session was a major success.


VEREENIGING.- Top leaders from the education, business, and political sectors gathered at the Emerald Resort Casino last Friday for the Sedibeng TVET College Business Breakfast.

A major networking success

The event, themed Empowering Partnerships for Future Skills, was a major networking success led by College Principal Dr George Mothapo, who also serves as the Secretary General of the South African Public Colleges (SACPO).

Dr Mothapo opened the proceedings by outlining the college’s mission to shape the country’s future through technical education and industrial partnerships. During his address, he made a direct plea to corporate leaders to prioritise hiring TVET College graduates.

Former television star, Dosto Noge, was a programme director of the event.

Mothapo acknowledged that Sedibeng TVET College is nothing without the support of key role players such as businesses. He also highlighted the need for strong ties between classrooms and workplaces.
The morning focused on exchanging ideas to boost the local economy.

Key highlights included Emfuleni Local Municipality Mayor, Sipho Radebe, who attended as a guest speaker to share his vision for the region and its stakeholders. Kabelo Mphahlele from Ipelegeng Transport Trust shared an inspiring testimony regarding a former Sedibeng student who successfully completed an internship with the company.

Leaders discussed how to improve their organisations

The event was hosted by programme director Dosto Noge, ensuring a professional flow to the day’s discussions. The session concluded with speakers and business leaders discussing how to improve their organisations by working more closely with the college.

As a gesture of thanks, all guest speakers were presented with tokens of appreciation at the end of the event.
