SASOLBURG.- A swift and coordinated response by members of the Sasolburg Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) and the Fezile Dabi District Trio Task Team, led to the successful recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a 52-year-old suspect on Monday.

It is said that at approximately 18:22, police received a complaint regarding a motor vehicle theft at Fichardt Street, near Imperial Fruit and Veg in Sasolburg.

High speed chase ensued…

“Acting promptly on the information, members proceeded to the R59 route towards Vanderbijlpark, where the stolen vehicle was spotted. A high-speed chase ensued, and the vehicle was intercepted at the Mabulala traffic lights in Vanderbijlpark,” police said.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by members on the scene.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court soon, on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
