Mayibuye submits roads petition to ELM
"Roads are not a luxury but a basic necessity for the dignity, safety, and economic development of our people.”
SEBOKENG. – The Afrika Mayibuye Movement National Organiser, Patrick Sindane, on Monday, May 25, submitted a petition to the Office of the Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Sipho Radebe regarding the deteriorating road infrastructure in Zone 20.
Sindane said that this intervention follows a people’s inspection he, together with the community conducted last week, where residents raised serious concerns about damaged roads, potholes, poor drainage systems, and the continued neglect of basic service delivery in the area.

“The inspection revealed that the current state of the roads has negatively affected motorists, public transport operators, emergency services, school transport, and the broader community. The Afrika Mayibuye Movement maintains that quality roads are not a luxury but a basic necessity for the dignity, safety, and economic development of our people.”
Sindane added that communities should not be forced to live under conditions that expose them to daily danger and unnecessary hardship while government officials remain silent.
The petition called on the Emfuleni Local Municipality to urgently:
1. Repair and rehabilitate damaged roads in Zone 20.
2.Provide clear timelines for infrastructure upgrades.
3.Improve stormwater drainage systems.
4. Engage directly with the affected community regarding long-term solutions.
“The suffering of our people cannot continue while public representatives remain comfortable in offices. We will continue to take the struggles of the masses directly to those in power until meaningful action is taken,” said Sindane.
