ANC Gauteng remembers Maphalla

VEREENIGING.- ANC Gauteng Provincial Deputy Coordinator Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko and ANC Gauteng PTT member, who is also the former mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality, Jacob Khawe, attended the memorial service of Simon Maphalla at the Vereeniging Civic Hall yesterday, Wednesday.


ANC Gauteng said that Maphalla who was affectionately known as “Sy” was a principled, disciplined, and exemplary leader who executed every organisational and governmental responsibility entrusted to him with diligence, humility, and distinction.
“His invaluable contribution to the Mass Democratic Movement and the broader pursuit of social justice will remain an enduring part of the proud history of our movement in the Vaal. The ANC extends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Maphalla family, particularly his wife, Cde Elsa, as well as his friends, comrades, and the broader ANC family in Sedibeng and beyond.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the first Deputy President of The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO), Chris Malemetja, the SANCO Regional Executive Committee (REC) members and the L.J Malia Zone, paid homage at the home of the late former SANCO National Executive Committee Member and Veteran, Maphalla.

Maphalla passed away on Tuesday, May 19.
“This visit was a gesture of remembrance, solidarity and revolutionary respect to the Maphalla family, as we continue to honour the life, contribution and legacy of a servant of the people. Comrade Simon “Sy” Maphalla’s name remains written in the history of SANCO and in the hearts of the communities he served with commitment and humility. May his legacy continue to inspire generations of community activists,” SANCO said.
Mphalla will be buried over the weekend.
