ANC Sedibeng secretary to comply with national ultimatum
Mkhwane, has agreed to step down from his outside employment to focus entirely on his political role.
SEDIBENG.- The regional secretary of the ANC in Sedibeng, Jason Mkhwane, has agreed to step down from his outside employment to focus entirely on his political role.
His decision follows a major national directive from the ANC, which gave all regional secretaries a 30-day deadline to choose between their party duties and outside jobs.
Mkhwane was the Supply Chain Manager at the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).
The movement introduced this strict rule to strengthen its internal structures ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
The position is that of the political head and organisational anchor of the region.
According to the ANC, the role of a regional secretary is too demanding to be treated as part-time work or squeezed in around another job. The party described the position as the political head and organisational anchor of the region, responsible for running daily campaigns, co-ordinating branches, leading political education, and representing the party in public.
Within 30 days the organisation is expecting compliance with the NEC decisions.
Speaking briefly to Sedibeng Ster, Mkhwane confirmed his commitment to the directive, saying he will comply with organisational decisions and processes.
“Within 30 days the organisation is expecting compliance with the NEC decisions.”
