Action galore at Gauteng Hollywoodbets Inter-Regional Play-offs

Boipatong and Ben 10 FC will join Young Pirates FC in the second division league.

MEYERTON.- There was action galore at the Meyerton Sports Ground when SAFA regions battled it out in the Gauteng Hollywoodbets Inter-Regional Play-offs over the weekend.

Lesco Sports Club were crowned the champions after they beat Boipatong FC 4-3 in the final at Sicelo Stadium on Sunday.

Boipatong FC and Ben 10 FC represented Sedibeng at these Inter-Regional Play-offs after finishing first and second, respectively, in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League at the end of the season. With SAFA Sedibeng being a hosting region, they had the advantage of bringing two teams to the play-offs.

These inter-regional play-offs were to produce an overall winner for Gauteng, with all six teams having already been promoted to the ABC Motsepe League for the 2026/27 season. In fact, these play-offs were just a formality to crown the Gauteng champions, as all six teams were automatically promoted to the ABC Motsepe League following SAFA’s decision not to relegate teams from this league at the end of the season.

This means the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League will have two streams in the new season. These play-offs were attended by the who’s who of football, with notable names including Jomo Sono.

Orlando Pirates defender, Mpho Chabatsane, was also in attendance to support his friends from different teams. It was a great day of football. SAFA Sedibeng president, Solly Mkhabela, and his deputy, Velaphi Motsepe, were also in attendance.

The Emfuleni Local Football Association chairperson, Jabu Mgcina, and the newly elected Midvaal Local Football Association chairperson, Sam Mofokeng, also showed up to support the local soccer teams.
Mkhabela took advantage of this occasion to present a trophy to Boipatong FC as the SAFA Sedibeng Men’s Hollywoodbets Regional League champions.

He congratulated both teams, Boipatong and Ben 10 FC, for their promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
He said it is a remarkable achievement to have three teams from Sedibeng campaign in the ABC Motsepe League in the new season.

Boipatong and Ben 10 FC will join Young Pirates FC in the second division league.

“As SAFA Sedibeng, we wish the teams all the best of luck and will give them the necessary support.
It is something to celebrate, considering we will have three teams from this region playing in the ABC Motsepe League in the new season. Young Pirates FC was the first team we promoted to this league a season ago,” said Mkhabela, who just came back from the Fifa World Cup 2026.
