Suspect arrested for possession of stolen Eskom property
Eskom confirmed that the found items are indeed their property.
SEBOKENG.- In the early hours of Tuesday the members of Sedibeng Tactical Response Team (TRT), Sedibeng Crime Intelligence and ESKOM, launched a tactical operation in Zone 11, Sebokeng SAPS policing precinct.
Upon arrival they found a 29-year-old who identified himself.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that the members of TRT explained the purpose of their visit and permission to search the premises was granted. The house was searched and during the search the following items were found:
- 200 Eskom Electric Meter customer interface units
- 200 Eskom single phase DIN Rail Electronic Energy Meters
- 200 Eskom Electric cards

Eskom confirmed that the found items are indeed their property.
” The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen Eskom property, and detained at Sebokeng SAPS and he will appear before court soon.”

BACKGROUND:
Mokhachane said that on August 02, this year, anonymous information was received about an individual who is in possession of an unlicensed firearm, and on August 03, information was liaised regarding the individual in possession of unlicensed firearm in Sebokeng and an early warning was done regarding the tactical operation (that eventually led to the Eskom property being found).
The Station Commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, expressed her gratitude to all the participants who yielded significant results.
“Sebokeng SAPS is in safe hands because of the persistent support given by the community. I would like to assure the community members that their anonymous tip-offs are not in vain and we must continue with our slogan, “TOGETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL”
