SEBOKENG. – “They start like this, the next thing they will be in our houses. We will not allow that.”

The residents of Zone 10 Extension 3 have issued a warning to thieves who made way with numerous water meters and taps in the area on the early hours of Monday morning. The residents woke up to wating ‘gushing’ from pipes following the theft.

“They are messing up with the wrong people, if they thing they can come to our area and do this, they must know that there will be hell to pay. We will not allow this to happen, “ the residents said in unison.

The meters and taps are said to be stolen only to be sold at different scrapyards in the township for their copper.

We will skin them alive.

“It is no even that much that they are making from the sale of these pumps, yet we are the ones that suffer because now we have to hire plumbers, and buy new materials for these pumps to be fixed. Next time they will not make it out of this area, we will skin them alive,” the residents warned.

Sedibeng Ster contacted Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) for help with regards to stopping the water flow, and helping the residents.

Its spokesperson, Makhosonke Sangweni, promptly responded.

Sebokeng Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, urged residents to report such incidents as they are criminal cases.
