Three arrested for illegal mining in De Deur

The suspects, comprising two Mozambican nationals and one South African national, were arrested at the scene.

SEDIBENG.- Three suspects were arrested for alleged illegal mining at a plot in Doornkuil, De Deur, on Friday, September 11.

 Police said that at approximately 20:00, the members of the Sedibeng Flying Squad acted on information regarding suspected illegal mining activities in the area.

Upon arrival, they found three men in possession of mining equipment, including six ‘ ‘Phenduka’ machines and bags containing material believed to have been extracted from the mine.

The suspects, comprising two Mozambican nationals and one South African national, were arrested at the scene. The equipment and suspected mining material were confiscated.

A case of illegal mining was registered at De Deur SAPS.

Police investigations are continuing.
