EVATON.- This week, the Freedom Front Plus (VF+) leader, Dr Corné Mulder, visited the Vaal and Southern Gauteng as part of his “It is Time” Tour.

Public meetings were held in Heidelberg, Walkerville, Evaton and Vanderbijlpark, and his tour of the province was concluded on Thursday evening at Stonehaven in Vanderbijlpark.

Mulder and his entourage also visited Evaton.

The visit focused the spotlight on the serious challenges faced by Vaal communities.

VF+ Gauteng leader, Jaco Mulder, said that in Emfuleni, in particular, poor service delivery, crumbling infrastructure and financial problems have reached a critical point. In June 2026, Emfuleni had adopted an unfunded budget for the ninth consecutive year.

“What the Vaal needs is not more political promises, but a practical recovery plan. The Freedom Front Plus’s 2026 Manifesto offers precisely that in the form of a ten-point plan,” said Mulder.

The plan focuses on:

1.        Communities deciding for themselves – decentralise power and decision-making. 

2.        Tax money working for the people – better value for money and service delivery. 

3.        Fair rates and taxes – no needless tariff hikes exceeding the inflation rate. 

4.        Restoring infrastructure – prioritise water, sewerage, electricity and roads. 

5.        Financial accountability – professional governance and consequences for mismanagement. 

6.        A safe and healthy environment – curb pollution, water losses and crime. 

7.        Job creation and economic growth – less red tape and a favourable climate for businesses. 

8.        Public servants actually serving residents – merit, expertise and a culture of service delivery. 

9.        Sound values and equal rights – accountable governance and respect for communities. 

10.      Effective oversight and stable coalitions – transparency, accountability and principled governance.

“After 4 November 2026, the main challenge will be to systematically restore Emfuleni’s administration, finances, infrastructure and service delivery.  It is time to turn the Vaal around.”
