SEDIBENG.- Tshepang Moremi put on a brave performance for Orlando Pirates after being dropped from the Bafana Bafana squad.

Pitso Mosimane announced his 30-man squad to face Guinea in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at Orlando Stadium on September 23.

Despite being ‘disappointed’ after being dropped from the Bafana Bafana team, this Sharpeville-born young star delivered a man-of-the-match performance for Pirates when they beat Durban City 2-0 in the Betway Premiership mid-week match on Thursday.

Moremi scored a brilliant goal, and his celebration was something to be admired.

It came as a shock when newly appointed Bafana Bafana coach Mosimane dropped Moremi, who was part of Bafana under Hugo Broos. Not only a part, but an important member of the team.

He was part of the Vaal players that Sedibeng Ster Sport referred to as Bafana Bafana’s Vaal triple ‘M’ (Tshepang Moremi, Relebohile Mofokeng and Thapelo Maseko).

When Broos took over as Bafana Bafana coach, he built his team around young players, and Moremi was one of the youngsters who formed part of his team. He was a standout player for Bafana at the FIFA World Cup.

He is one of the best players in the PSL to date, and many thought he would definitely be part of Mosimane’s team.

Nevertheless, this didn’t affect Moremi, as he was a top performer helping Pirates beat Durban City. He continued where he left off last season when Pirates were crowned the PSL champions.

As if that was not enough, Moremi was named the MTN8 Cup Last Man Standing at the PSL Awards for the 2025/2026 season.
