MKP candidate seeks a change of leadership
"The race is a chance to restore human dignity and introduce people-centered leadership."
SEBOKENG.- Ernest Nkopane, the Ward 34 Councillor candidate for the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP), believes the upcoming Local Government Elections (LGE) will bring historic change to local governance.
Ward 34 is located in Sebokeng (Zone 11 and Zone 12).
Let us not repeat the same mistake this time around.
Nkopane told Sedibeng Ster that the local community has suffered constitutional setbacks, constitutionally, under the “so-called” Government of Local Unity-(GLU) that is in the Sedibeng District and the Emfuleni Local Municipalities, comprising of about four political parties that, Nkopane said, decided to betray their voters and the constituency, back in 2021 to date.

“The betrayal of the people impacted so deeply to the extent of compromising the dignity of the communities in general. Let us not repeat the same mistake this time around. We must use this opportunity to reclaim the ‘People’s Mandate’ and the power back in our hands.”
For Nkopane, the race is a chance to restore human dignity and introduce people-centered leadership.
“This is to reverse the past suffering and develop the community of Ward 34 by working together, hand in glove with the youth, graduates, and local businesses to empower households.”
Nkopane said that the role of local government begins at the voting stations, then the ward level, before escalating to a local municipal government.
“As such, ‘Creative Councillorship’ is the only solution towards resolving the painful historical past of non-service delivery in Ward 34,” Nkopane said.
Nkopane promised to:
• Fix electricity problems
• Stabilise sewer spillages
• Prioritise local economy
• Create crime prevention groups and,
• Provide resources that will attract projects assisting job creation.
