This lesson was learnt on the hard way by the Vaal University of Technology and North-West University’s men’s basketball teams during the Varsity Basketball tournament currently taking place at the University of the Witwatersrand.
NWU Vaal kicked off their tournament with a 82-29 drubbing against UJ but bounced back to defeat UKZN 85-80, but lost against Wits (82-45) and Tukkies (78-48).
VUT on the other hand hit the ground running after consecutive victories over Tukkies (56-55), the UWC (86-83) and UCT (67-48) but came unstuck on Sunday afternoon by 63-51 against UKZN.
