VANDERBIJLPARK.- Jomo Cosmos played to a 1-1 draw against rock-bottom Lerumo United in the ABC Motsepe League match.

This encounter took place at Isak Steyl Stadium on Friday.

The game played under protest with Cosmos lodging a protest claiming their opponents, Lerumo United FC field two improperly registered players.

The game was stopped for at least five minutes with both teams’ captains called by the fourth match official to sign the protest letter on the touchline. The game was also played under heavy rain with both sides failing to inspire for the better part of the game.

The visitors went to half time break leading 1-0. They took the lead after a Cosmos defender failed to clear the ball out of danger area which resulted into a goal.

Cosmos equalised in the second half.

The game failed to live to expectations

There was nothing to write home about except the two goals and the protest. The game failed to live to expectations.

Lerumo United FC were desperately in needed of maximum points to escape relegation depending on how other teams played at the bottom played. On the other hand, Cosmos also needed three points to be clear from relegation.

However, the draw was a fair results for Ezenkosi looking at their position on the log.

The ABC Motsepe League teams remains with two to three games to wrap their league programme for 2025/2026 season.
