The Sharpeville community is reeling after the brutal murder of 32-year-old Lulu Taoana, whose body was found in an open veld in Tshepiso Phase 2.

SHARPEVILLE – The Sharpeville community is in shock following the gruesome murder of Lulu Taoana (32), whose half-naked body was discovered at an open veld in Tshepiso Phase 2 on April 19.

The shocking discovery was made by children who were playing in the area. According to reports, Taoana was last seen by her family and friends on Friday. Taona was declared dead by paramedics who responded to the scene.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Busisiwe Sango confirmed the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

“A murder case docket has been opened for investigation, and no arrests have been made,” she told Sedibeng Ster.

The incident has sparked outrage from members of the community who have cited that this is the third woman who has been murdered in the area within a year.

Residents are demanding urgent safety improvements from the local municipality, specifically pointing to overgrown grass and broken streetlights as factors that make the area dangerous

Sango has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Witnesses can call 08600 10111, 112, or the Sharpeville Police on 071 675 7270.
