SAFA Sedibeng Men’s Regional League title race takes a new turn

There is still more to play for, and for now, it is game on.

SEDIBENG.- The SAFA Sedibeng Men’s Regional League took a new twist after a long weekend of action across the region, with Boipatong FC now sitting at the top of the log.

The race for the league title is incredibly tight as the top three teams, Boipatong FC, Perfect Academy, and Ben 10 FC, are separated by just a single point.

Boipatong FC currently leads the standings with 64 points from 27 games. Perfect Academy sits just behind in second place with 63 points and a game in hand, while Ben 10 FC holds third place with 62 points.

The highlight of the weekend took place at the George Thabe Stadium, where Ben 10 FC played against Perfect Academy in an action-packed double-header. The tension was high from the first whistle as both teams fought for the three points. Perfect Academy won the first match on May 2 with a dramatic 1-0 victory, scoring the winning goal at the stroke of time when it seemed the match would end in a draw.

The two teams met again on Sunday in a thrilling match that produced five goals. Perfect Academy proved their form was no fluke by defeating Ben 10 FC 3-2, sending the local football fans home highly entertained. These fixtures will probably go down as the best games of the season. However, the race for the championship remains wide open.

There is still more to play for, and for now, it is game on, with other teams still able to snatch the league title.
Many supporters believe this season is one of the best compared to previous years, when Real Hearts FC or VUT FC usually dominated before Young Pirates FC was promoted to the ABC Motsepe League.

WORDS FROM THE COACH:
Sechaba Mofokeng. “This league is still far from over. We are not going to be fooled by these two wins; there is still a long way to go before the end of the season. For us, it is one game at a time. It was not an easy game because Ben 10 FC is a good team, and it is not a mistake that they are in the league. They are a hard-working team.”
