Sedibeng Sports Confederation hosts Clubs Excellence Workshop
“This workshop was about empowerment, especially for disadvantaged clubs to better understand opportunities around them."
VANDERBIJLPARK.- In an attempt to empower the development of sports, coaches, sports students, league coordinators, managers, and administrators, the Sedibeng Sports Federation, in partnership with NWU Vaal and the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, hosted the Clubs Excellence Workshop.
This initiative took place at the NWU Vaal campus on Sunday.

This workshop was attended by Sedibeng federations, with the main focus on empowering clubs, especially disadvantaged ones, to better understand opportunities around accessing different funding streams from both government and corporate sectors.
This initiative will go down as a great sporting initiative to improve federations and individuals in Sedibeng.

The topic covered the following: governance, compliance, leadership, development, culture, discipline, player welfare and mental Health, safeguarding in sport, team managers, match administrators, branding, marketing, club registration, leagues, and the power clubs have in acting as strong and capable leaders in their respective federations.
This included the women’s leadership in sport.

Some of the notable speakers included Thulani Mtimkulu, Mathanya Maseamo, Ujeet Moharaj, Joseph Mathong, Tholoana Peu, Sechaba Songwane, and Xolani Mathumbo, who is the newly elected Sedibeng Sports Federation chairperson.
Mathumba said all the sports federations were invited to attend this important workshop under the Theme “Strong Clubs/Teams. Better Leaders Winning Sport.”
However, Mathumba told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he was disappointed with the Sedibeng Netball Federation’s non-attendance.
He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they were informed on time, just like all other Sedibeng Federation members.

“This workshop was about empowerment, especially for disadvantaged clubs to better understand opportunities around them. Look, such platforms are critical in strengthening clubs, improving governance, and ensuring that sport development benefits everyone across the board. I want to thank all the federations that honoured our invitation and made this workshop a success. I also want to take this opportunity to thank NWU Vaal for agreeing to come on board and host us. I do not doubt that we are moving in the right direction if what I see today is anything to go by,” said Mathumba.
