Vaal young star Maseko makes history for Bafana Bafana in must-win clash

SEDIBENG.- One of the Vaal’s young stars, Thapelo Maseko, became an instant hero on Thursday morning as he fired Bafana Bafana into the FIFA World Cup Last 32 for the first time in history.
Maseko scored the crucial solitary goal in a tense 1-0 victory over South Korea in their final Group A match. The historic win ensured South Africa qualified for the knockout stage of the global tournament for the very first time.
It was a must-win encounter for Bafana Bafana following their previous group matches against Mexico and Czechia. The team needed nothing less than a victory against South Korea to secure the runners-up spot in the group, finishing just behind group winners Mexico.

Maseko not only delivered the vital goal but also put on a masterclass, earning him the Man of the Match award. He picked up right where he left off in the previous game, where he also starred during South Africa’s 1-1 draw with Czechia.
Bafana-Bafana are set to face Canada on Sunday
The talented winger, who is currently on loan at Cypriot club AEL Limassol from Mamelodi Sundowns, has been the standout performer for Bafana Bafana, making his post-match accolade no surprise to those watching.
Looking ahead, Bafana Bafana will face Canada in the Round of 32.
