SEDIBENG.- Sedibeng will have three teams playing in the ABC Motsepe League in the upcoming season. This follows the automatic promotion of both Ben 10 FC and Boipatong FC to the second division.

They will join Young Pirates FC, bringing the total number of teams representing the region in the league to three. Ben 10 FC and Boipatong FC will participate in the Inter-Provincial Play-offs scheduled to take place at Sicelo Stadium this weekend.

Six teams from five regions are set to compete for the Gauteng Champions title in the upcoming play-offs. Only the Sedibeng region will enter two teams, both of which have already earned automatic promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

These play-offs are just a formality to produce the Gauteng overall winner as all the six teams have been officially promoted to ABC Motsepe League.

The SAFA Sedibeng Deputy President, Velaphi Motsepe, has confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that no teams will be relegated from the ABC Motsepe League. Instead, the league is being split into two separate sections for the upcoming season. Motsepe explained that the scheduled play-offs will still go ahead, but only as a formality to crown the overall Gauteng champions.

This is the great news for Sedibeng soccer fans as three local teams will be playing the ABC Motsepe League in the new season.

The good thing is that SAFA Sedibeng will promote two teams.

Previously, Young Pirates FC was the only team from the region competing in the league. “We want to take this opportunity to congratulate the two teams, Ben 10 FC and Boipatong FC, for being promoted to the ABC Motsepe League. The decision was taken by SAFA not to relegate teams from ABC Motsepe but to promote the six teams that were supposed to fight for promotion to the play-offs.

“The good thing is that SAFA Sedibeng will promote two teams,” said Motsepe.
