VANDERBIJLPARK.- Newly promoted ABC Motsepe League club Ben 10 FC recently held successful soccer trials at Cecil Oldridge Park.

A large group of local young players turned up in high numbers to try out for the team.

The club organised the event to search for fresh talent as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Both Ben 10 FC and Boipatong FC earned automatic promotion to the ABC Motsepe League after finishing first and second in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League.

The promotion came after SAFA decided against relegating any teams from the second division.

SAFA Sedibeng has been a hosting region. Because SAFA Sedibeng hosted the recent Gauteng Hollywoodbets Inter-Regional Play-Offs at Meyerton Stadium, the region enjoyed the advantage of entering two teams. Five SAFA regions competed in the play-offs, though the matches were largely a formality because all six regional winners were automatically promoted.

Vaal football fans can look forward to an exciting season, as three local teams will now compete in the ABC Motsepe League. Ben 10 FC, Boipatong FC, and Young Pirates FC will all represent the Vaal Triangle.

Former Jomo Cosmos forward and current SuperSport football analyst Lucky Mhlathe was among the notable figures watching the action from the stands.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mhlathe explained that he attended the trials to support one of the new ABC Motsepe League teams.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that it is great news to have three teams from this region to play in the ABC Motsepe League. He expressed hope that this success would help bring top-flight football back to the region.

There is no doubt that the Vaal is blessed when it comes to talent.

“This is great news after a long time to have three teams from our region to play in the ABC Motsepe League. I do not doubt that in the future we will be seeing a different story having a representative in the top-flight football. Look, there is no doubt that the Vaal is blessed when it comes to talent.”

Mhlathe pointed out that top clubs such as Jomo Cosmos, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs frequently scout players from the region.

“I was one of the youngsters who was lucky to be scouted by Jomo Sono, and I became one of the best players in the country. There is no way you can play in the PSL and not have a player from Vaal. This tells you something about Vaal,” said Mhlathe.
