Man arrested for the alleged rape and murder of 4-year-old Thembi

The Zamdela SAPS arrested Tshokolo Ranketsi last week. Police spokesperson, Captain Livhuhani Hani, said the police worked tirelessly to gather information and clues that led to the suspects’ arrest. Ranketsi lived next door to Thembi's residence with his partner and two children.

SASOLBURG. – The Zamdela SAPS recently arrested Tshokolo Ranketsi for the alleged rape and murder of 4-year-old Thembi Mkhombeni, whose body was dicovered in a field near the kraals in Zamdela.

Ranketsi lived next door to Thembi’s residence with his partner and two children. Police spokesperson, Captain Livhuhani Hani, said Ranketsi allegedly kicked open the kitchen door and took Thembi when she was sleeping with her three other siblings in the main house, while her mother was in the shack with her friends.

“When she went to check on the children on Sunday morning, she found that Thembi was missing.She was alerted by her neighbours that the body of her child was in the field near the kraals. According to Hani, Thembi’s body had multiple stab wounds and police are waiting for a forensic report to determine if she was raped.”

Hani said the police worked tirelessly to gather information and clues that led to the suspects’ arrest. Ranketsi appeared in the Sasolburg Magistrates Court.
