Midvaal comes up with payment plan for its residents

When entering into an arrangement plan, interest on the account will be waived.

MIDVAAL.- The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) has come up with a payment plan for its customers who are financially impacted by COVID-19.

The payment plan allows residents to pay the account balance in scheduled installments to avoid legal action by the municipality. Rate payers who suddenly find themselves unable to pay their monthly municipal bills, are encouraged to sign an Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD) and agree on a payment arrangement plan, where they would be able to pay a determined amount they can afford.

Furthermore, the rate payer applying for the payment arrangement must admit the debt owed; and arrange with the municipality to pay in installments the outstanding amounts.

When entering into an arrangement plan, interest on the account will be waived.

Documents required for arrangement:

  • Motivation letter.
  • Original or certified copy of ID
  • Proxy letter/Lease agreement or Approval letter and ID copy from property owner

“The payment arrangement plan is to assist the customer to be able to make a minimum amount in a form of installments and that they do not fall into more arrears. Any account holder who is unable to pay an outstanding balance when due may immediately contact creditcontrol@midvaal.gov.za /016 360 7405 or contact center at 016 360 7400 during normal business hours to make payment arrangements,” the municipality said.
