SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM)  has said that its Municipal Manager  (MM), Lucky Leseane, remains on precautionary suspension as directed by Council on 29 July 2021.

ELM Mayoral Spokesperson, Lebo Mofokeng said: “Council will await the report of the Investigator on allegations of misconduct and poor performance levelled against the Municipal Manager (MM) which should be produced within 30 days since the last sitting and will deliberate on its outcome on receipt of the report.”

Mofokeng added that ELM Executive Mayor, Gift Moerane, has briefed internal stakeholders on the MM suspension and duly advised the MEC Cogta as required.

“As late as Thursday, 5 August 2021, the Municipality had received communication from the Attorneys of the MM and the municipality has accordingly responded. The Council recognizes the importance of finalizing the matter speedily to ensure management stability in the institution without flouting the law.”
