Two arrested following shooting incident in Vanderbijlpark

The police have arrested two suspects following a shooting incident in Vanderbijlpark.

According to Police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto, Police were called to a shooting in progress at about 11:48 this morning.

“Members of the Vanderbijlpark SAPS Task Team responded swiftly and on arrival found that the driver of a white Mercedes Benz was shot on the shoulder.

“Fortunately, the passenger who was seated at the back survived unscathed.”

It is alleged that four suspects from a blue Mazda came from the opposite direction and started shooting at the victim’s vehicle.

Members pursued suspects who fled the scene on foot after they were pointed in the right direction by the victims.

“While chasing after suspects, members  tactically stopped  two suspects who were running and conducted a search.

“Two  firearms were found in their position. A case of attempted murder and possession of  unlicensed firearms has been launched for investigation.”

The arrested suspects will appear in court soon.
